Local Choruses Head to Greece for Music Festival
The Brevard Community Chorus and Brevard Chorale are headed to Syros, Greece to participate in the International Festival of the Aegean in July of 2011. Singers and non-singers alike from the public at large are invited to join the group for the July 5-20 festival, which is already drawing participants from around the globe in the categories of choral music, orchestral music and dance. Cost per person with airfare is approximately $3,659. Interested parties can contact Dr. Robert E. Lamb, Director of Choral Activities for Brevard Community College at 321-433-7629. Activities during the two week festival will conclude with a monumental performance of Orff’s Carmina Burana, broadcast live on Greek television. The International Festival of the Aegean schedule of events is available at www.festivaloftheaegean.com
Dr. Lamb is certain this will be an outstanding trip for both singers and non-singers alike.
“Our last tour to Scandinavia in 2007 was marvelous and life-long friendships and memories were made,” said Lamb. “We expect the same magic this coming summer with the trip to Syros, Greece.”
