Get Fresh with Sesame Crusted Tuna
Enjoy this treasure from the sea with a recipe designed to keep your tastebuds sizzling. Paired with a crisp white wine, this is the perfect treat for those hot summer days.
Ingredients:
n (2) 8 oz pieces ahi (tuna)*
n ½ cup tuxedo sesame seeds
(black and white)
n 2 tbs vegetable oil
n Salt and pepper
n 1¼ cup ponzu sauce (recipe below)
n Canton noodles and Asian noodles
cooked to taste
Preparation:
1] Preheat non-stick pan on high; add oil.
2] Coat each side of the tuna in sesame
seeds. 3] Sear tuna in hot pan for 30 seconds
on each side. Salt and pepper to taste.
4] Toss Canton noodles and Asian vegetables
in ponzu sauce and top with tuna.
Makes two servings.
* Because the seared tuna is almost raw, make sure you use
sushi grade tuna when preparing this dish
Ponzu Sauce
n ¼ cup Hoisin sauce
n ¼ cup pineapple juice
n 2 tbs rice wine vinegar
n 2 tbs soy sauce
n 2 tbs teriyaki sauce
n 2 tbs cornstarch
n 4 tbs cold water
1] Combine Hoisin sauce, pineapple juice,
rice wine vinegar, soy sauce and teriyaki
sauce in a saucepan and boil on mediumhigh
heat. 2] Combine cornstarch and water
in small bowl. Whisk cornstarch mixture into
sauce to thicken. Remove from heat.
Makes approximately 1¼ cup.
